Thefts from woman, teen
A WOMAN and a teenager fell prey to thieves in two separate incidents.
In the first theft, a woman had her handbag stolen from her flat at Jurong West on Sunday while she was taking a bath.
She had placed the handbag containing about $30 and other personal documents on her study table near a window facing the common corridor, and gone to take a bath at 8.25pm. When she returned to the table 25 minutes later, it was missing.
The window was slightly open, and there was a bamboo pole seen just under the window.
In the other theft, a 19-year-old had her mobile phone picked from her bag at Bugis Village on Tuesday.
She had just made payment for an item at the shop when she felt a push from the back. Suspicious, she checked her bag and found that her $400 mobile phone was missing.
The police advise the public to be mindful of their belongings in crowded places.
This tells us never leave your valuables on places that can be seen or reached with or without objects if your flat's window faces the common corridor. Also, beware and keep your bag safe when you are shopping in crowded areas.
